Americká alternativní rocková skupina, založená v roce 1981 ve státě New York, patřila k průkopníkům college rocku a melodického jangle popu 80. a 90. let. Formace proslula především érou s charismatickou zpěvačkou a textařkou Natalie Merchant, s níž nahrála zásadní alba jako „In My Tribe“ či „Our Time in Eden“, propojující chytlavé melodie se společensky angažovanými texty. Po odchodu Merchant v roce 1993 pokračovala kapela v čele s vokalistkou Mary Ramsey v koncertování i tvorbě a dodnes zůstává respektovanou stálicí americké nezávislé písničkářské scény.
Reprezentativní souborný LP box set přináší ucelený pohled na zlatou tvůrčí éru americké formace 10,000 Maniacs u labelu Elektra Records na přelomu 80. a 90. let. Kolekce zachycuje klíčové studiové tituly v čele s přelomovými alby „In My Tribe“ a „Our Time in Eden“, jež pomáhaly definovat inteligentní college rock a melodický jangle pop té doby. Zásluhou poetických textů a charismatického vokálu Natalie Merchant představuje tato kompilace nepostradatelný dokument tvůrčího vrcholu skupiny i jejího nadčasového písničkářství.
