At the Gates je švédska melodic death metalová skupina z Göteborgu, ktorá okolo roku 1990 položila základy göteborského štýlu death metalu. Po pôvodnom rozpade v roku 1996 a obnovení činnosti v roku 2007 kapela pokračuje vo vydávaní nových albumov.
The Nightmare of Being, vydaný na 2CD v roku 2021 u vydavateľstva Century Media, je siedmym štúdiovým albumom skupiny. Album zachováva korene göteborského metalu, zároveň však pracuje so širším záberom štýlov a textovo čerpá okrem iného z diel hororových filozofov Thomasa Ligettiho a Eugena Thackera. Prvý disc obsahuje desať štúdiových skladieb vrátane titulnej The Nightmare of Being alebo šesťminútovej The Fall Into Time. Druhý disc prináša deväť živých nahrávok z vystúpení na festivale Roadburn, v Štokholme a San Franciscu, napríklad Daggers of Black Haze, Death and the Labyrinth či The Night Eternal.
Na albume sa ako gitarista podieľal Jonas Stålhammar.
