Depeche Mode je britská elektronická skupina, ktorá od roku 1980 zásadne ovplyvnila synthpopovú a new wave scénu. Svojimi inovatívnymi syntezátorovými aranžmánmi a melodickým prístupom k elektronickej hudbe sa stala jednou z najvýznamnejších formácií svojho žánru.
Kompilácia The Best of Depeche Mode, Volume 1 vyšla v roku 2006 na vydavateľstve Mute ako vinylová platňa zhŕňajúca prvých 25 rokov existencie kapely. Album obsahuje 18 skladieb vrátane hitov Personal Jesus, Enjoy the Silence, Just Can't Get Enough a People Are People. Súčasťou výberu je aj dovtedy nevydaná skladba Martyr, nahraná počas nahrávania albumu Playing the Angel a zverejnená na jeseň 2006 ako singel.
V čase vydania zostavu tvorili Vince Clarke, Andrew Fletcher, Dave Gahan a Martin L. Gore.
