Dismember patrí k priekopníkom švédskeho death metalu – stockholmská kapela založená roku 1988 stojí po boku Entombed, Grave a Unleashed ako súčasť švédskej „veľkej štvorky“ žánru. Ich sound definoval podobu severského death metalu v 90. rokoch.
