Dream Theater je americká progresívna metalová kapela založená v roku 1985 v Bostone. Patrí k najvýznamnejším predstaviteľom progresívneho metalu a spája virtuóznu inštrumentálnu techniku s komplexnými kompozíciami typickými pre progresívny rock.
Album When Dream and Day Reunite vyšiel v roku 2005 u vydavateľstva Sony Music. Ponúka 10 skladieb vrátane rozsiahlejších kompozícií ako Metropolis, The Killing Hand či inštrumentálneho Ytse Jam, ktoré predznamenali typický štýl kapely — technickú vyspelosť kombinovanú s melodickým cítením.
V roku 2005 tvorili Dream Theater Mike Portnoy, John Myung, John Petrucci, James LaBrie, Jordan Rudess a Steve Stone.
