Grateful Dead bola americká rocková skupina založená v roku 1965 v Palo Alto v Kalifornii, známa eklektickým štýlom spájajúcim rock, folk, bluegrass, blues, country, jazz, psychedéliu a ďalšie vplyvy. Preslávila sa improvizáciami počas živých vystúpení a oddanou fanúšikovskou základňou nazývanou „Deadheads“. V roku 2007 získala Grammy za celoživotný prínos.
Workingman's Dead je štvrtý štúdiový album skupiny, vydaný 14. júna 1970 vydavateľstvom Warner Bros. Records. Časopis Rolling Stone ho vyhlásil najlepšou platňou roku 1970. Nahraný vo februári 1970, album sa spolu s nasledujúcim American Beauty odkláňa od psychedelických experimentov predchádzajúcich albumov smerom k Americana štýlu autorov Jerryho Garciu a Roberta Huntera. Toto remasterované vydanie z roku 2020 obsahuje celkom 16 skladieb vrátane Uncle John's Band, Casey Jones a Cumberland Blues a bonusový koncertný záznam z 21. februára 1971 z Capitol Theatre v New Yorku.
V čase vydania albumu skupinu tvorili Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Ron „Pigpen“ McKernan, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, Tom Constanten, Bruce Hornsby, Robert Hunter a Rob Wasserman.
