John Holt bol jamajský spevák a skladateľ, ktorý sa najprv sa preslávil ako člen The Paragons, neskôr vystupoval sólo. Jeho jemný hlas a nadčasové skladby ako „The Tide Is High“ (neskôr preslávená v podaní Blondie) z neho urobili jednu z najvýznamnejších postáv jamajského reggae.
Kompilácia Essential Artist Collection vyšla v roku 2023 na dvojitom oranžovom transparentnom vinyle od vydavateľstva Trojan Records a zhŕňa 28 klasických skladieb tohto obľúbeného baladistu. Medzi nimi nechýba jeho hitparádový úspech Help Me Make It Through The Night, ktorý sa dostal do britskej top 10, ani ďalšie kľúčové nahrávky ako Stealing Stealing, Ali Baba či The Tide Is High.
