Insomnium je fínska melodic death metalová kapela založená v roku 1997 v meste Joensuu, ktorej hudba spája škandinávsky melodický death metal s typicky fínskymi prvkami.
Album Across the Dark vyšiel v septembri 2009 na vydavateľstve Candlelight Records ako štvrtá štúdiová platňa skupiny. Obsahuje 8 skladieb vrátane skladieb Down With the Sun, The Harrowing Years či takmer deväťminútovej Lay of the Autumn. Hosťami na albume sú Jules Näveri z Profane Omen ako vokalista a Aleksi Munter zo Swallow the Sun na klávesy. Nemecký online magazín Metal 1 zvolil platňu albumom mesiaca september 2009.
V čase vydania tvorili Insomnium Niilo Sevänen (basgitara, spev), Ville Friman a Ville Vänni (gitary), Markus Vanhala (gitara) a Markus Hirvonen (bicie).
