Iron Maiden patrí k najpopulárnejším britským heavymetalovým kapelám a k priekopníkom novej vlny britského heavy metalu (NWOBHM). Ich štúdiový album The Number of the Beast sa po celom svete predal v takmer 20 miliónoch kópií a patrí medzi legendárne albumy žánru.
Live After Death je prvý koncertný album skupiny, ktorý vyšiel v roku 1985 u vydavateľstva Castle Records. Nahrávka zachytáva vystúpenia z Long Beach Arena v Kalifornii a Hammersmith Odeon v Londýne počas turné World Slavery Tour. Toto vinylové vydanie obsahuje 12 skladieb vrátane úvodnej reči Winstona Churchilla a klasík ako Aces High, The Trooper, Rime of the Ancient Mariner a Hallowed Be Thy Name. Mnohí ho považujú za jeden z najlepších živých záznamov v histórii heavy metalu.
V čase vydania tvorili zostavu Steve Harris (basová gitara), Adrian Smith (gitara), Bruce Dickinson (spev) a Nicko McBrain (bicie).
