The Jam bola britská mod revivalová a punk rocková skupina z Wokingu v Surrey, ktorá pôsobila v rokoch 1972–1982. Patrila k hlavným predstaviteľom britskej punkovej a new wave scény sedemdesiatych a osemdesiatych rokov, ktorej hudba kombinovala agresívne gitarové riffy so sociálno-kritickými textami.
Kompilácia The Very Best of The Jam vyšla v roku 1997 u vydavateľstva Polydor a obsahuje všetkých 21 singlov skupiny zoradených chronologicky. Nájdete na nej klasické skladby ako Going Underground, Town Called Malice, The Eton Rifles, That's Entertainment či Beat Surrender, ktoré mapujú celú diskografiu kapely od debutového albumu In the City (1977) až po záverečný album The Gift (1982).
Trojicu The Jam tvorili Paul Weller (spev, gitara), Bruce Foxton (basgitara, spev) a Rick Buckler (bicie).
