Judas Priest je britská heavymetalová skupina z Birminghamu, založená v roku 1969. Spolu s Iron Maiden a Saxon predstavuje jednu z popredných kapiel hnutia New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
Dvojalbum The Essential Judas Priest vyšiel v roku 2006 na CD vo vydavateľstve Sony Music UK a prináša retrospektívu tvorby skupiny od sedemdesiatych rokov až po album Angel of Retribution. Kompilácia obsahuje 34 skladieb na dvoch diskoch a zahŕňa klasiky ako Breaking the Law, You've Got Another Thing Coming či Electric Eye. Výber opomína debutový album Rocka Rolla a éru speváka Tima „Ripera“ Owensa.
Na albume účinkuje trojčlenná zostava kytaristov Kennetha Downinga a Glenna Tiptona spolu s baskytaristom Ianom Hillom.
