Lenny Kravitz je americký spevák, skladateľ a multiinštrumentalista, ktorého „retro“ štýl spája rock, soul, funk, reggae, hard rock, psychedelický rock, folk a balady. Sám často hrá na gitare, basgitare, bicích, klávesoch a perkusiách.
Album Mama Said vyšiel 2. apríla 1991 u vydavateľstva Virgin Records ako umelcova druhá štúdiová platňa. Na skladbe Always on the Run sa podieľal gitarista skupiny Guns N' Roses Slash, ktorý spolupracoval aj na skladbe Fields of Joy. Pieseň All I Ever Wanted napísal Kravitz spoločne so Seanom Lennonom. Najväčším hitom albumu sa stal singel It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over, ktorý sa vyšplhal do prvej desiatky amerického rebríčka Billboard Hot 100.
