Major Lazer je jamajský elektronický projekt, ktorý spája reggae, dancehall a elektronickú tanečnú hudbu. Založil ho v roku 2008 producent Diplo, ktorého hudobná vízia formuje pestrú fúziu štylistických vplyvov od moombatonu po electro house.
Album Free the Universe vyšiel v apríli 2013 na CD u vydavateľstva Because Music a nasleduje debut Guns don't kill people... lazers do z roku 2009. Obsahuje 14 skladieb s pôsobivým zoznamom hostí, medzi ktorými nechýba Ezra Koenig zo Vampire Weekend, Amber Coffman z Dirty Projectors, Santigold, Peaches, Bruno Mars, Wyclef Jean, Shaggy, Tyga či Flux Pavilion. Album dosiahol 34. priečku tak v americkom rebríčku Billboard 200, ako aj v britskom UK Albums Chart. K zvýrazneným skladbám patria Get Free, Watch Out for This (Bumaye) a Bubble Butt.
V čase vydania pôsobili v projekte Diplo, Jillionaire a Walshy Fire.
