Mental Cruelty je nemecká blackened deathcore kapela z Karlsruhe, založená v roku 2016. Ich hudba spája prvky death metal, slam a black metal s brutálnym vokálom a epickými orchestrálnymi pasážami.
Album Purgatorium vyšiel v roku 2022 v limitovanom reedičnom vydaní na CD. Obsahuje osem skladieb, medzi ktorými vynikajú The Rise of the Antichrist, Vicarius Filii Die či Immortalising Purgatory. Toto vydanie navyše prináša inštrumentálne verzie všetkých ôsmich trackov, čím ponúka poslucháčom možnosť zamerať sa na zložitú inštrumentáciu a atmosférické orchestrácie bez vokálnych stôp.
