Americký hudobník, skladateľ a spevák Tom Petty patril k najvýraznejším postavám amerického rockového piesničkárstva. Bol spoluzakladateľom skupiny Traveling Wilburys, v ktorej pôsobili aj Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison či George Harrison. So sprievodnou kapelou The Heartbreakers fungoval priebežne od roku 1976.
Album Live At the Fillmore 1997 zachytáva výber z dvadsiatich vypredaných koncertov, ktoré Petty a The Heartbreakers odohrali v priebehu dvadsiatich nocí v legendárnom priestore Fillmore v San Franciscu. Šesť z týchto vystúpení bolo profesionálne zaznamenaných a trojalbum na vinyle ponúka vrcholy týchto pamätných večerov — od klasík American Girl a Free Fallin' cez covery Eight Miles High a (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction až po hovorené vstupy, ktoré zachycujú uvoľnenú atmosféru a Pettyho živú interakciu s publikom.
