Queen je britská rocková skupina založená v roku 1970 v Londýne, ktorej tvorbu spočiatku ovplyvnil progresívny rock a hard rock. V priebehu kariéry sa kapela zamerala aj na komerčnejšie žánre — od klasického rocku cez pop rock až po funk a R&B.
Debutový štúdiový album Queen vyšiel 13. júla 1973 vo Veľkej Británii u vydavateľstva EMI Records; v tomto remasterovanom vydaní ho ponúka Hollywood Records. Nahrávky vznikali v štúdiách Trident a De Lane Lea v Londýne, produkčné trio Roy Thomas Baker, John Anthony a samotní členovia skupiny sa zaslúžili o hutný, dynamický zvuk spájajúci hard rock a glam. Album obsahuje desiatku originálnych skladieb — medzi najvýraznejšie patria rockový Keep Yourself Alive, progresívny Liar a rozprávkovo ladený My Fairy King. Obal s Freddiem Mercurym v reflektore navrhli Mercury a Brian May spoločne s Douglasom Puddifootom. V britskom rebríčku sa album umiestnil na 24. mieste a položil základy charakteristickej éry skupiny — kredity na obale zdôrazňujú, že „nikto nehral na syntetizátor“.
Zostavu v roku 1973 tvorili Freddie Mercury (spev), Brian May (gitara, doprovodný spev), Roger Taylor (bicie, doprovodný spev) a John Deacon (basgitara).
