Queen je britská rocková skupina založená roku 1970 v Londýne, ktorej tvorba sa pohybuje od progresívneho rocku a hard rocku až po pop rock a funk. Hudbu kapely charakterizuje vrstvenie zvuku, vokálne harmónie a bohatá žánrová pestrosť.
Album Queen II vyšiel v marci 1974 u vydavateľstva EMI a bol nahraný v londýnskych štúdiách Trident a Langham 1 v auguste 1973 s producentom Roy Thomas Bakerom. Originálne LP malo namiesto klasického označenia strany A a B názvy „biela strana“ a „čierna strana“ – biela časť obsahuje emotívnejšie, melodické skladby, čierna časť výlučne fantazijné kompozície s temnejšou atmosférou. Toto vydanie na štyroch CD prináša originálny album v remixe z roku 2026, session nahrávky a alternatívne verzie, inštrumentálne backing tracks a vzácne živé nahrávky z BBC a z Golders Green Hippodrome (september 1973), vrátane skladieb Ogre Battle, Seven Seas of Rhye a The March of the Black Queen.
V čase nahrávania album tvorili Freddie Mercury (spev), Brian May (gitara, vokály), Roger Taylor (bicie, vokály) a John Deacon (basová gitara).
