Jean-Philippe Rameau bol jedným z najdôležitejších francúzskych skladateľov a hudobných teoretikov barokovej éry. Preslávil sa ako nástupca Jeana-Baptistu Lullyho v oblasti francúzskej opery, do ktorej vniesol väčšiu dramatickosť, výraznosť a pestrosť medzihry.
