Saxon sú britská heavymetalová skupina, ktorá sa sformovala v polovici 70. rokov v Barnsley v grófstve Yorkshire. Patrí medzi hlavných predstaviteľov New Wave of British Heavy Metal a v osemdesiatych rokoch sa štyrikrát dostali do prvej desiatky britského albumového rebríčka.
Denim and Leather vyšiel v októbri 1981 u vydavateľstva Union Square Music a je štvrtým štúdiovým albumom kapely. Názov albumu i titulnej skladby bol inšpirovaný typickým oblečením fanúšikov heavy metalu na začiatku 80. rokov — rifľami a koženými bundami. Album získal vo Veľkej Británii zlatú platňu a patrí k vrcholom kapely, ktoré ovplyvnili celý rad nasledovníkov vrátane Metallica či Megadeth. Tento rozšírený remaster ponúka celkovo 18 skladieb vrátane živých bonusov. K známym skladbám patria Princess of the Night (o mohutnej lokomotive), And the Bands Played On (hold odkazu heavy metalu) a Midnight Rider.
V čase vydania albumu tvorili Saxon šesťčlennú zostavu: Biff Byford (spev), Graham Oliver a Paul Quinn (gitary), Steve Dawson (basgitara), Pete Gill a Nigel Glockler (bicie).
