Howard Shore je kanadský skladateľ filmovej hudby, trojnásobný držiteľ Oscara za hudbu k trilógii Pán prsteňov. Jeho tvorba zahŕňa viac ako 80 filmových partitúr a dlhoročnú spoluprácu s režisérmi Peterom Jacksonom a Davidom Cronenbergom. Pre hudbu k Jacksonovej fantasy ságe študoval Shore leitmotivickú techniku Richarda Wagnera.
Album The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack vyšiel v decembri 2014 u vydavateľstva Decca Records ako soundtrack k záverečnej časti trilógie Hobit režiséra Petra Jacksona. Orchestrálna nahrávka obsahuje 21 skladieb na dvoch CD, zbory boli nahraté v štúdiách Abbey Road a Air Studios v Londýne. Medzi kľúčové skladby patria Fire and Water, Battle for the Mountain, Sons of Durin či záverečná The Last Goodbye.
