Tears for Fears je britská pop-rocková skupina, ktorú v roku 1981 založili Roland Orzabal a Curt Smith. Ich melodické skladby ako Shout, Everybody Wants to Rule the World a Mad World sa v osemdesiatych rokoch dostali na vrchol hitparád.
The Seeds of Love vyšlo 25. septembra 1989 u vydavateľstva Fontana Records ako tretí štúdiový album skupiny. Album spája epický zvuk skupiny s vplyvmi jazzu, soulu a beatlesmanovského popu. Jeho náročná produkcia a opakované nahrávacie stretnutia stáli vyše milióna libier. Z albumu vzišli hity Sowing the Seeds of Love, Woman in Chains a Advice for the Young at Heart, ktoré uspeli v rebríčkoch po celom svete. Toto dvojdiskové vydanie obsahuje pôvodných 8 skladieb a 16 bonusových verzií, remixov a rádioeditov.
Na albume sa podieľali Curt Smith, Roland Orzabal a americká soulová speváčka Oleta Adams, ktorá hosťuje v sprievodných vokáloch.
