The Waterboys sú britská folk rocková a keltská kapela, ktorú v roku 1983 založil škótsky hudobník Mike Scott. Ich tvorba sa vyznačuje literárnymi odkazmi a často sa zaoberá spirituálnymi témami, čo im prinieslo uznanie od rockovej aj folkovej kritiky.
Album A Rock in the Weary Land vyšiel v roku 2000 vo vydavateľstve BMG International a Razor & Tie ako siedmy štúdiový album kapely. Po sedemročnej prestávke pokračuje album v tvrdšom rockovom štýle predchádzajúceho albumu Dream Harder (1993). Štrnásť skladieb zahŕňa dlhšie kompozície ako osemminútovú My Love Is My Rock in the Weary Land, ale aj kratšie, ako dvojapolminútové My Lord, What a Morning. Fotografiu na obale zhotovil Steve Gullick.
Na albume sa podieľali Livingstone Brown, Jeremy Stacey, Richard Naiff a John Baggott.
