Warren Zevon bol americký rockový spevák a skladateľ známy svojimi provokatívnymi textami plnými čierneho humoru a politických odkazov. Medzi jeho najslávnejšie piesne patria Werewolves of London, Lawyers, Guns and Money a Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner.
Stand In The Fire vyšlo pôvodne v roku 1980 a bolo nahrané počas päťdňového pobytu v The Roxy Theatre v západnom Hollywoode v auguste 1980. Album obsahuje živé verzie Zevonových najväčších hitov, vrátane Excitable Boy a Poor, Poor Pitiful Me, a predstavuje dve nové originálne skladby (Stand in the Fire a The Sin) plus cover Bo Diddley's a Gunslinger. Vinylové vydanie bolo venované Martinovi Scorseseovi.
