Britská skupina Genesis je jednou z kľúčových kapiel progresívneho rocku. Kapela sa sformovala v roku 1967, jej zostava sa vyvíjala, od začiatku stavala na náročných kompozíciách a pôsobivých divadelných živých vystúpeniach. S predajom presahujúcim 100 miliónov nosičov patrí k najúspešnejším projektom hudobnej histórie. V roku 2010 boli Genesis prijatí do Rock'n'rollovej Siene slávy.
Album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway vyšiel v novembri 1974 vo vydavateľstve Charisma ako dvojalbum. Ide o ambicióznu rockovú operu — príbeh rebela Raela, ktorý sa v New Yorku stratí v podzemnom svete plnom bizarných výjavov a symbolických postáv. Surrealistická cesta je psychologickou alegóriou sebapoznania. Šiesty štúdiový album Genesis je zároveň posledným s Peterom Gabrielom ako spevákom. Táto výročná reedícia k 50. výročiu vydania obsahuje pôvodné dvojalbum nanovo zremasterované z archívnych pásov a kompletnú koncertnú nahrávku z januára 1975 zo Shrine Auditoria v Los Angeles. Blu-ray disk ponúka audio v hi-res 96kHz/24-bit a priestorový Dolby Atmos mix vytvorený v Real World Studios za dozoru Petera Gabriela a Tonyho Banksa. Súčasťou boxu je päť LP a Blu-ray.
V čase vydania albumu tvorili Genesis Peter Gabriel (priečna flauta, spev, hoboj, perkusie), Tony Banks (gitara, klávesy), Mike Rutherford (basgitara, gitara), Phil Collins (bicie, spev, perkusie) a Steve Hackett (gitara).
