The Pogues je britská skupina hrajúca zmes tradičnej írskej hudby a punku. Založená bola v roku 1982 v Londýne pod menom Pogue Mahone a vo svojom zvuku využíva nástroje ako tin whistle, banjo, mandolína či akordeón.
Kompilácia The Very Best Of… vyšla v roku 2001 u vydavateľstva Warner Strategic Marketing a ponúka celkovo 21 skladieb z repertoáru skupiny. Výber zahŕňa ikony ako Fairytale of New York, Dirty Old Town, The Irish Rover či A Pair of Brown Eyes. CD je vydané v plastovom obale s leštenou obálkou.
V zostave v čase vydania figurovali Jem Finer, Spider Stacy, Andrew Ranken, Darryl Hunt a David Coulter.
